학교소개

1796년 글래스고대학교 자연철학과 교수인 존 앤더슨이 성과 계급에 상관없이 누구에게나 개방되는 '쓸모 있는

배움의 터전'을 기치로 글래스고시 하이가에 ‘앤더슨스학교로 세웠다. 이후 급격하게 발전하여 1800년대 들어

조지가로 이전한 후 꾸준히 성장하였고 1928년 앤더슨스대학교로 교명을 변경하였다.

1890년대에는 유능한 과학자와 기술자를 필요로 하는 당시의 시대적 상황에 따라 발전하면서 이 지역 유수의

이공계 고등교육기관으로 명성을 굳혔다. 이후 글래스고·웨스트스코틀랜드기술대학, 왕립기술대학,

로열과학기술대학으로 교명을 바꾸었다.

 

1960년대 초에 경영과 예술 부분 교육을 제공하던 Scottish College of Commerce와 통합하였고 1964년에

영국 기술계 대학으로는 최초로 왕실의 칙허장을 받고 종합대학으로 승격하면서 현재의 교명으로 개칭했다.

1993년에는 스코틀랜드 유수의 교육대학인 조던힐교육대학을 통합하였다.

 

스트래스클라이드 경영스쿨, 교육학부, 공학부, 인문·사회과학부, 과학부, 법·예술·사회과학부에서 다양한

학부·대학원과정을 제공한다. 특히 스트래스클라이드경영스쿨은 유럽에서도 규모가 큰 대학으로 호텔경영과

관광학 등 경영학의 모든 과정을 가르친다.
