영국/네덜란드 파운데이션 학생들의 IELTS 점수 향상을 위해 2월 10일부터 IELTS 온라인/오프라인 수업이 시작됐습니다!~

IELTS 4영역 중 라이팅과 스피킹 영역에 집중하는 수업으로!~ 

SAUK를 통해 파운데이션을 등록한 학생 모두에게 무료로 제공되는 수업입니다!~~~

수업 시작은 2월(8주 수업), 4월(8주 수업), 9월(6주 수업)이며, 매주 목요일 2시간씩 수업을 진행합니다!~

서울 방문이 어려운 학생들을 위해 온라인 수업과 오프라인 수업 두가지 형태로 진행되니!!~~

빨리 혹은 높은 IELTS 점수를 받기를 원하는 학생들!!~ 모이세요!~ :)

[2월 10일(목) 오전 11시 온라인 수업] 

지방에 거주하는 학생 또는 대면 수업이 어려운 학생들을 위해 온라인 수업을 진행했습니다.

수업은 ZOOM을 이용해서 진행됐습니다!~

이번 온라인 수업에는 총 3명의 학생이 참석했습니다!~ 

모두 올해 9월 영국유학을 앞두고 열심히 IELTS 공부를 하고 있는 학생들입니다.

수업 시간은 총 2시간, 수업은 60% 라이팅 + 40% 스피킹으로 배분해서 수업이 진행됐습니다.

첫 주인만큼 앞으로 8주간 진행될 수업 내용을 전달했습니다.

지방에 거주하는 학생들은 IELTS 공부에 대한 목마름(?)이 있는데~ 저희의 수업이 도움이 됐으면 좋겠네요~~​

라이팅 수업은 양방향 실시간 확인이 가능한 템플렛을 이용해서 진행했으며~

스피킹 수업은 학생들에게~ 연습할 시간을 주려고 노력했습니다^^ 

[2월 10일(목) 오후 4시 오프라인 수업]​

오프라인 수업은 같은날 강남역 SAUK 사무실에서 진행됐습니다.

6명의 학생이 오기로 했었는데~ 1명 결석하고 총 5명의 학생들이 참석했으며, IELTS 교재도 함께 제공했습니다~~~

열심히 수업을 준비하는 튜터 마이크네요!~~~^^

수업 시간동안 최신 기출문제를 이용해서~ 학생들과 IELTS 시험을 연습했습니다~~~

수업 내용은 온라인 수업과는 다르지 크게 않지만~~

대면 수업인 만큼 학생들끼리 교류 할 수 있는 액비티비를 진행했어요~

2시간의 수업이 끝이 아닙니다!~~~

온라인 / 오프라인 수업 모두 숙제가 있습니다!!!~~~ 

이번주 숙제는 3개나 되네요~

1. 라이팅 숙제: Task 1 - Bar Graph 관련 150 단어 영작 / Task2 Disccusion 토픽  250단어 영작

2. 스피킹 숙제: Part 1부터 3까지 파트당 1개씩 음성 녹음 3개 하기

3. 유튜브 시청: IELTS 스피킹 샘플 테스트 보고 오기

1번과 2번 숙제는 제출 시 선생님이 피드백을 달아서~ 학생들께 드릴거에요~~

[2월 17일(목) 오전 11시 온라인 수업]

IELTS 온라인 수업 두번째 후기입니다!!~~

오늘은 4명의 학생과 함께 했습니다.

지난 주와 같이 2/3 라이팅 + 1/3 스피킹 수업으로 진행했어요!~~~

Today we had 4 students join our online class. 2/3's of class time is for writing, 1/3 of the class is dedicated to speaking

During writing class we studied about Bar Graphs for Task 1, and Agree/Disagree style of questions for Task 2.

학생들에게 예상 질문지와 모범 답안을 제공해서!~~ 목표 점수에 맞는 답변을 연습했습니다!~~

Students were provided with my thought process, and learned how I made templates. We went over my full sample answers and then students made their own templates with a partner.​ 

아래는 2주 수업 스케쥴 화면 이에요!~ 김실장도 조심스럽게 참여했네요 ㅎㅎㅎ

스피킹 수업에서는 토픽 3개를 정해서 연습했어요~~

During speaking, we studied 3 topics: Personality, Exercise/Sports and Hometown. We practice Part 1 questions, how to make outlines for part 2, and various phrases and vocabulary that can be used in all parts. 

그리고 오늘도 어김없이!~ 숙제가 있습니다!~~

Students were assigned homework: 2 essays, one for task 1 and one for task 2. For speaking: recording answers for questions from speaking part 1, 2 and 3. Also watching a mock IELTS speaking exam

앞으로 6번의 온라인 수업을 통해 우리 학생들 IETS 점수가 팍팍 오르길 바랍니다!!~~

[2월 17일(목) 오후 4시 오프라인 수업]

이어서 오프라인 수업 후기입니다!~

오늘은 5명의 학생들이 참석을 했습니다.

이번주부터 좀 더 업격한 코로나 예방 수칙을 적용했습니다.

수업 시간 음료, 과자 섭취 금지 + 마스크 KF94 착용 으로 최대한 코로나 전파 위험을 줄이려고 노력하고 있습니다.​

Below are some images from our in person class, held on the same day. Students who live close by and have time to come to our office are able to engage with other students who are also preparing for their IELTS exam. 

During class, we run a lot of the same activities, except we can discuss with our partners face to face, instead of in break-out rooms on ZOOM. Students also have an easier opportunity to meet others who may be preparing the same major or even studying at the same university.

Here we are in the middle of one of our group discussions. Students are broken out into groups as they practice making outlines and templates for their writing Task 1 and Task 2 questions.

As we continue practicing, our familiarity and speed improves when we look at new questions. By the end of class, students were getting the hang of how I expect them to answer bar graph questions for Task 1.

As time goes on, students will practice and prepare many types of questions they will face come their IELTS exam day. Further, we introduce 3 sets of vocabulary of common topics for the speaking exam. The hope is that slowly but surely, students will continue to build up their skills and learn useful tips along the way. 

[2월 24일(목) 오전11시 온라인 수업]​

안녕하세요!~

어느새 3번째 IELTS 온라인 수업 후기네요~~

점점 더 온라인 수업 진행이 익숙해 지는 느낌입니다~

아래 사진은 학생들끼리 스피킹 연습을 위한 온라인 미팅 프로그램 ZOOM의 "개별룸" 설명을 마이크가 송팀장에게 하는 장면이네요 ㅎ

3회차 온라인 수업은 총 4명이 참여했습니다!~

오늘의 라이팅 토픽은~

Writing Task 1 - Line graphs

Writing Task 2 - Advantage/Disadvantage style questions

이렇게 진행됐습니다!~ 

스피킹 토픽은 음식, 건강, 비즈니스와 관련한 내용으로 진행됐네요~~

마이크 선생님이 최대한 학생들끼리 이야기를 할 수 있도록 수업을 진행하고 있습니다.

For speaking we studied three new topics with phrases and vocabulary focused on food, health and business.​

오늘 온라인 수업에 참여한 학생들 중 2명이 같은 학교 같은 과를 목표로 해서~ 서로 연락처도 교환하고~~

서로 다른 지역에서 거주하고 있지만 이렇게 온라인으로 함께 공부하면서 좋은 관계를 만들면 좋을거 같아요!~

Two students realized while chatting that they will actually be attending the same university in September together. 

Online students have the benefit of easily being able to mix and match with different conversation partners from the comfort of their home.

[2월 24일(목) 오후4시 오프라인 수업]​

오프라인 수업은 총 3명이 참석했어요~ 

5명이 참석을 원했는데 건강상의 이유로~ 2명이 불참했네요 ㅠㅠ

라이팅 모범답안과 스피킹 파트 2 라이팅 모범 답안으로 학생들끼리 연습할 수 있도록 진행했습니다.

-The focus of class was continuing to prepare efficient writing templates and how to make a plan for speaking part 2

-I demonstrated a new technique and students practiced it well​ 

학생들의 숙제 참여도가 높아서~~ 마이크 선생님이 만족하면서~ 학생들의 숙제 피드백을 제공했습니다!~~

이제부터 www.saukstudy.co.kr 에서 보다 전문적으로 수업 관리를 진행할 예정입니다!~~

[3월 3일(목) 오전11시 온라인 수업]
 

어느새 4번째 수업이네요~~~

시간이 빠릅니다~ 절반왔으니~~ 남은 절반 열심히 하면 좋은 결과 있을거에요~~

오늘은 총 3명 학생과 온라인 수업을 진행했어요!~~

라이팅 테스크 1의 표 관련 수업을 했어요!~~~ 테스크 2 질문들도 함께 연습했어요~~

 In the morning we had 3 students join us as we studied about Tables (Writing Task 1) and did a review of all the various Task 2 questions.

라이팅 Task 2는 학생들이 많이들 헷갈려 해요~~~

질문들마다 약간씩 형태가 다르다보니 ㅠㅠㅠ

학생들이 시험 중 헷갈리지 않도록~~ 템플렛을 통한 공부를 진행했어요!~~~

Task 2 can be very tricky for students, as each question has a slightly different answer style. We worked on making templates in our groups and studied accompanying vocabulary that students can infuse immediately into their essays. ​​ 

2시간의 수업이 정말 짧습니다~~~

학생들도 숙제도 잘해주고!~~~ 앞으로 4번의 수업이~~ 기대됩니당 ㅎㅎ

I am excited to see the progress our students continue to make. Can't wait to see what kind of scores they can receive after finishing our 8 week speaking and writing class.

[3월 3일(목) 오후4시 오프라인 수업]​

코로나 상황이 안좋아짐에 따라 3월 10일부터는 온라인 수업으로만 진행하기로 했어요~~~

학생들이 몸이 안좋아서~ 수업을 빠지는 경우 정말 아쉬워해서~~

3월 10일부터는~~ 온라인 수업으로~~ 좀 더 알차게 진행해보려고 합니다!

In the afternoon we continued on with our in-person group class for week #4 of our speaking and writing course 

오늘은 총 2명의 학생이 수업에 왔어요!~~~ 오프라인 수업은 바로바로 선생님이 피드백을 주니~~ 수업의 효과적이지만~~

건강이 항상 최우선이니~~ 온라인 수업을 더 알차게 준비해보겠습니다!!! ^^

We covered the same subjects as the morning class, as the materials are almost the same. For students in-person they have the advantage of live interactions with others and immediate feedback. 

오늘은 2명의 학생이 짝이 되어 테스크 1, 2 템플릿 만드는 작업을 했어요~~

둘이서 의논하면서~~~ 보다 나은 라이팅 답변 템플릿을 만들었어요~

In groups, students made templates for writing task 1 and 2 together. It can be difficult starting, so discussing it together with a partner can be a great way to brainstorm and gain a new perspective. 

스피킹 수업에서는 파트 1,2 연습을 했습니다.

파트 2에서는 시간 관리부분을 연습했어요!~

오늘 온 2명은 서로의 스피킹을 듣고 각자의 답변에 대한 피드백을 서로 주고!~~~ 튜터도 옆에서 열심히 스피킹 피드백을 제공했어요~

During speaking class, our students continued to practice part 1 and part 2. Especially during part 2, it is essential to know how much time you are speaking for. We listen to each other, time their answer and offer feedback. 

어느새~~ 5주차에 접어듭니다~ 시간 빨라요 ㅠㅠㅠ

Next week we will be starting the second half of our class. Time really flies!

[3월 10일(목) 오전11시 온라인 수업]

오늘

 Hi everyone! We have made it across the half way point in our IELTS class. 
Due the recent situation in Korea, we decided to combine our 2 classes, into 1 online class in the morning!
We had 4 students join us as we dove into this week's topics!

At the start of every class, we always review the previous week's homework assignment.
After that I introduce our focus for the week. Week 5 consisted of Pie Charts (Task 1), and Problem/Solution (Task 2). 

 In our class Google Doc, students are warming up and making essay templates in their breakout groups. Brainstorming with another student is a great way to collaborate and share ideas. In the breakout rooms, students can also freely chat and get to know other SAUK students :)

 This is the view students get from their homes. Sorry I don't look too happy, but actually I really enjoy teaching our students :)
 I am seriously focused on how to help each student maximize their IELTS ability. Don't mind my intensity, I promise I smile and am nice to our students~

 During speaking class, we study 3 major topics. Each topic starts with a list of recommended vocabulary words and various Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 sample questions. Here, I am asking students to pick a few vocab words from each list (Holiday, Education, Environment) that they will make sure to study and try to incorporate into their next homework assignment.

The faster students can go from learning, to using, the faster they will permanently store that word into their language well.

[3월 17일(목) 오전11시 온라인 수업]

Week 6 just finished up, and I appear to look more engaged below.
The topics covered in this class were Diagrams (Writing Task 1), and Discuss both sides (Writing Task 2).
Diagrams is definitely one of the tougher Task 1 topics on the IELTS exam, so I hope our students study the tips and guides I provided to them this week. 

 This is a pretty cool picture, right? While having classes may not be the most ideal situation when you're learning something, we are constantly trying to make our class the highest level it can be. From the technology, to the materials, to the teaching methods. I hope our students can feel the care and effort we are putting in each week!

 Here is an example of students working collaboratively. Google Docs has a lot of great features, but the ability for multiple students to edit something at the same time is definitely one of the best

 After writing class is finished, we take a short break and begin our speaking part. Students turn on their cameras and are totally warmed up by now. They are ready to answer lots of practice questions and continue their IELTS preparation. 

 Here I am monitoring our class as we are about to transition into our breakout rooms. With a nice even number of students, I can easily bounce between each room and listen to each team's conversation.

At the end of class I can give general and specific feedback to our students.
6 weeks have flown by, there's only 2 left. Wow!

[3월 31일(목) 오전 11시 온라인 수업]

이번 주도 어김없이 목요일에 마이크 선생님과 함께하는 아이엘츠 수업이 온라인으로 진행이 되었습니다~

오늘도 역시 소규모로 인텐시브하게 전영역에 걸쳐 수업이 되었습니다.

총 네 명의 학생이 줌으로 모여서 수업을 받았는데요

Week 7 included the most challenging writing task to date: multiple charts for Task 1. To prepare, as always, we went over the 4 paragraph structure, some helpful vocabulary and a template for success. 

​​사진에서 보시다시피 줌으로 문제를 공유하고 구글 문서를 통해 실시간으로 아이디어를 나누고 직접 답안을 작성해서

선생님께 실시간으로 코멘트를 받았답니다~

실시간으로 시간 내에 모든 답안을 작성하는 것은 아니지만, 같은 주제로 다른 답안을 작성해서 함께 살펴보면

실제 시험에서 비슷한 주제가 나왔을 때 훨씬 다양한 접근을 통해 쉽게 답을 작성할 수 있게되죠!

라이팅은 답안을 작성할 수 있는 시간이 제한되어 있어서 신속하게 정확한 답을 적어야 하는데,

이렇게 연습 해 두면 실제 시험 시에 아주 큰 도움이 된답니다~

After studying and practicing task 1, we moved on to the task 2 topic (opinions if asked and providing direct answers). One of the best parts of our class is that students have an opportunity to brainstorm together in break out rooms and discuss their ideas. By collaborating with other students, they can get a diverse range of ideas for how to answer various question topics. 

이렇게 샘플 답안을 가지고 함께 분석하고 좋은 phrase들도 익혀서 task 2 답변에 직접 사용해 볼 수 있죠

그러면서 내 라이팅 실력은 UP!!

 
In the photo above we are reviewing the sample answer for the task 2 direct questions. 

이게 사실 큰 노하우인데, task1은 다이어그램을 분석해서 작성해야 하기 때문에 라이팅을 무작정 시작하는 것보다

플랜을 먼저 세우는 것이 굉장히 중요합니다. 마이크 선생님께서 task1을 위한 전략을 아주 쉽게 설명해 주셨어요!

그리고 학생들이 두명씩 모여서 소규모로 토론하는 시간도 가졌답니다~

스피킹 연습도 함께하고, 바로바로 피드백을 받으면서 아주 화기애애하게 온라인 수업을 마칠 수 있었어요

이제 벌써 7차 수업입니다. 곧 4월 중순부터 다음 회차 아이엘츠 시험반이 개설이 될 예정입니다.

In the final photo, you can notice the plan for how to outline a diagram question for writing task 1. It is a bit unique compared to other writing questions. To finish class, we practiced discussing about technology, music, movies and books. Next week, our final class, we will have mock tests in writing and speaking. I hope students are ready for the challenge!
